If you tried to lose weight before and failed, you might think that nothing will ever work for you. This is simply not true. There are many people out there who had to try more than once – but eventually they did get there.

If you do what you always did, you’ll get what you always got

One point to remember is that if you failed in the past, you need to do something different this time. If you tried low-fat and calorie-restricted diets before, you might find that a low carb is the answer. Combining a low carb diet with exercise is pretty much a fool-proof way to lose weight.  It is not a magic bullet – it will still require hard work and effort – but you are guaranteed to lose weight if you stick with it. You will feel less hungry and so are more likely to stay on track. If you fail to stick to a low-carb plan, try to identify what it was that made you fail, and figure out how you can improve it next time.

Take responsibility for your life

The only person who is responsible for the quality of your life and for things you get to achieve is you. Take full responsibility for everything that happens in your life.  Stop making up excuses for yourself, or blaming other people and negative circumstances.  In order to achieve your goals, you need to take control of your life and assume full responsibility for it.

Don’t give up trying

If, for whatever reason, you deviate from your plan – perhaps give in to your carb cravings or skip gym sessions for a week in a row – try to get back to the plan as soon as you can.  Just because you failed this once, doesn’t mean you have to give up on your programme.  Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on.  It is better to fail but keep trying than to give up altogether – in the first case, there is still a chance of success, in the second, there is none.

Remember that change is possible

You might feel stuck in your current situation, or think that nothing will ever change in your life.  Nothing could be further from the truth! It is possible to change yourself, and millions of people have managed to do so, against many odds. Keep trying, keep working at it, and don’t ever give up – and positive changes will come.
