    Best low-carb high-fat foods

All weight-loss diets include restrictions. On a low-carb diet, we say goodbye to carbs.
But ketogenic low-carb diets, like Atkins Induction and Keto, are also very high in fat. You MUST eat lots of fat in order for the diet to work.
How great is that? You can have the most indulgent and hedonistic meals – while losing weight!
This post lists the most scrumptious low-carb high-fat (LCHF) foods. Let’s count our blessings and rejoice.

  • Low-carb gluten-free bread

    Low-carb gluten-free bread

low-carb-bread-gluten-freeWhich food do you miss the most after going low-carb? For me, it’s definitely bread. There are some companies out there that claim to make low-crab bread, but in reality (as this recent post on DietDoctor shows), you just never know whether their claims are true. The best solution to this problem is to make your own.
Making low-carb bread is actually easier than making traditional bread with wheat and yeast. (There are many benefits to avoiding wheat – carb content is just one of the reasons.) (more…)

Atkins Induction means goodbye to carb-rich side dishes such as rice or potatoes.
Instead, you can have vegetables – up to 20g of net carbs a day.
As vegetables are the main source of permitted carbs, you might actually eat more of them on Atkins than before.
If you are one of these people who never used to eat anything green, here are some tips on cooking Atkins Induction vegetables. (more…)

  • Simple low-carb brownies

    Simple low-carb brownies

Brownies are not that hard to recreate without any flour or sugar. We just need to use almond flour and a sweetener.

There are many low-carb brownie recipes out there. Here’s my version.

My inspiration was Pret-A-Manger brownies. I used to love them back in the day before going low-carb.

If you never tried them, they are very dense, fudgy and moist. I use a lot of chocolate and cocoa powder in this recipe, so the taste is very rich. (more…)

  • Almond flour pancakes, low-carb and gluten-free

Almond flour pancakes, low-carb and gluten-free

pancakeShrove Tuesday is here – time for some pancake action! If you haven’t tried making low-carb, gluten-free pancakes before, this recipe is super-simple and produces very genuine tasting pancakes.
The main substitution we need to make is to use almond flour instead of wheat flour. You might need to experiment a little with the amount of added moisture to get just the right texture (as not all almond flours are exactly the same). I use water but you can also try milk instead. (more…)

  • Low-carb chocolate truffles

    Low-carb chocolate truffles

Lowcarb chocolate trufflesChocolate truffles are a classical French confectionery recipe.

Rich intense taste of chocolate is offset by a smooth creamy texture. They make a wonderful sophisticated treat for any chocoholic.

The great news is that we can easily make low-carb chocolate truffles.

We just need to use sweetener instead of sugar in the basic recipe.

These truffles are so chocolatey and rich, you are likely to be satisfied with just a few. I normally need only one or two to satiate the sweet craving. (more…)

    Atkins Induction Dessert Recipes

Atkins Induction is the first stage of Atkins, designed to break addictions to sugary foods and reset your metabolism.

As is the case with any addiction, the only way to wean yourself off sugar is to stop taking it.

This is an essential phase of the diet, but also the toughest one. Carb cravings are common during Induction, especially if you are trying Atkins for the first time. (more…)
